San Sebastian Memories - Wedding of Rose & Gary
I was really looking forward to some quiet time off in October, planned to get some cool blog posts done, to start submitting my lovely images to wedding magazines and finally to catch up with all the episodes of the Game Of Thrones and the True Detective I´ve missed since January... Yes, this is serious! This is how crazy busy I was for the past… errrr... year! Absolute madness! I dream of going for long long runs, reading books I’ve ordered on Amazon months ago, getting back into colouring and painting, I imagine myself getting up early to roast my coffee, make healthy smoothies with my new NutriBullet and I can´t wait for the day when I take my two furry kids back to the doggy school…
I’ve never thought October would be so busy! I mean come on Ibiza!!! It’s mid October and I’m shooting like crazy, driving from meeting to meeting, trying to squeeze quick Skype call between meals.
So today I got up at 6am... For no particular reason, simply couldn’t sleep. I sat in silence watching the sun rising slowly outside my window thinking about all the things I did this the summer. Beginning of May I was traveling to San Sebastian with my stunning friend Diva Borrelli to shoot an amazing wedding of Rose & Gary, hopping on a plane to Mallorca straight after to shoot with Lisa from Isla & Smith in a private villa near S'Arracó. Our fab Mallorca session was just featured (IN PRINT!) in BELLELUMIÈREmagazine! Back in Ibiza we shot another dream inspiration session with gorgeous Bibi and awesome team of super talented ladies: Cristina from Le Jour Du Oui + Diva Borrelli + Danielle at Velvet Circus Ibiza + Kristin from Flowers Ibiza...
July came fast and I found myself flying to London only to catch another flight to Mustique, private island in the Caribbean to be a part of Olly´s mind-blowing 7 day wedding bonanza. Than off to Warsaw with my dearest photographer friend Michael Ferire shooting bridal fashion stories for young bridal designers Moons Varsovie, than back to Ibiza for my September wedding madness. Now looking back through my images I still can’t believe I got to experience all this!
So let´s start from the very beginning with my San Sebastian trip...
Rose found me thanks to a very kind recommendation from the most amazing woman on the planet, Joy Thigpen! We spoke with Rose several times over Skype and I knew this wedding will be super beautiful. Both Rose and Gary are very creative, fun and loving people. Visiting San Sebastian was a breath of fresh air. With stunning hills, unreal greenery, deciduous trees, dreamy, moody clouds and obviously the best tapas (and wine) in Spain!
As soon as we arrived at our hotel with Diva we dropped off the suitcases and hit the town. The food was outstanding. Fresh fish, colorful tapas, great wine selection and very friendly locals made us instantly fall in love with San Sebastian. The next day at 6am Diva was already doing Rose´s hair and makeup for our quick engagement shoot around town.
Rose prepared few outfits and we´ve started the session with her red Bageley Mischka dress!
We had so much fun with Rose and Gary. After our engagement day session we´ve slowly packed and started to drive towards Bidania and Iriarte Jauregia Hotel, where they got married.
We both felt like being on the set of a movie the whole time, Diva constantly touching up Rose´s hair and makeup, making sure she looks immaculate, and me running around with two cameras getting photos of everything and everyone around. The wedding day was so wonderful. Rose rocked her fabulous Vera Wang wedding dress and gold & pink Valentino shoes. All the guests looked glamorous enjoying great wine, expensive whiskey and signature cuisine by Chef Enrique Fleischmann who created four course meal for the bride and groom.
I will be eternally thankful to this amazing couple, for letting me and Diva be a part of their Spanish wedding experience.
