Harbour Island - Bahamas Winter Couple Session In The Sun
The first time I have visited Harbour Island was back in May 2017 when me and Matias flew in to photograph a cover story for the Condé Nast Traveller UK. We stayed at The Other Side, owned by two amazing people Ben Simmons and Charlie Phelan, a new tented eco-resort situated right across Romora Bay on the neighbouring island of Eleuthera. The Other Side felt like an absolute paradise. With it's secluded private beach, crystal clear waters, tropical garden and calming sensation of peace, we seriously fell in love at first sight.
Everyday Ben and Chino would drive us back and forth from The Other Side to Harbour Island on their private speedboat. I remember seeing every sunrise and sunset while being there, taking it all in.
Harbour Island has this hypnotic, unique vibe. Everyone is friendly, everyone chats with you, they invite you over for drinks, there are so many good places to eat and hang out, it is simply everything you ever wished for on 5km long and 3km wide little piece of land.
From mouthwatering breakfast at the Landing to lobster quesadillas at Sip Sip, karaoke fun at Daddy D's, lazy afternoons at the Dunmore Beach to rum sour cocktails at the Ocean View.
I remember standing on a paddle board watching the turtles swimming below us wishing I could come back again to this wonderful, dreamy paradise and when we found out we will be back again in December 2017 I simply couldn't wait to feel the Harbour Island bliss again!
We went back to photograph a wedding for Emily and Jeremy who have chosen the Ocean View as their wedding venue and it was sheer luck that Rosemary Hattenbach was on the island at the same time planning a big wedding for one of her clients. We decided to organise a little shoot together to take advantage of this dream team and the stunning Bahamian locations.
We have asked our new friends Cherise and Sean to be our models for the day and with a little help from Nicole Sillapere, Karin Kamb and The Other Side team we photographed these two lovebirds cycling around the tropical gardens and pier of the resort.
The lovely owner of the Blue Rooster boutique kindly provided us with beautiful earrings and accessories for Cherise to wear.
We managed to do two looks - one super simple, white beach outfit perfect for cycling and one darker more fun pool side outfit with Marysia Swimwear and gorgeous locally made Bahamian straw hat.
